What are Spam and Viruses costing your organization?
Conservative estimates indicate 50 email users receiving 10 spam emails per
day and 2 viruses per user per year will cost over $7,500 per year in lost
productivity. (see Tables 1 and 2
below)
The DoubleCheck Email Manager offers detailed and immediate reports
useful for optimizing your configuration and measuring value using return on
investment (ROI). DoubleCheck customers commonly experience an ROI in excess of
200%. Please see the
DoubleCheck
Logging, Monitoring and Reporting Overview for an example of how the
real-time Cost Savings Calculator helps you document your ROI.
ROI calculations involving spam filtering and virus protection products
typically require estimates of the following variables:
- Number of email users
- Number of days worked per year per employee
- Average hourly cost per employee
- Spam and virus email volumes
The tables below are provided to help you estimate spam (Table 1) and virus
(Table 2) costs based on the following assumptions:
- 220 days worked per employee per year
- Employee cost of $30 per hour
- 5 seconds to delete or manage each spam message
- 1 hour to detect, stop and clean each virus
The tables should be used individually and then summed for a total cost.
Simply estimate your volume of spam per employee per day and your number of
employees. Then do the same for viruses per employee per year and your number of
employees. Add the two costs and compare this to a two-year investment in the
DoubleCheck Email Manager, Annual Maintenance and straightforward installation.
